How long have you been hunting for?
Thank you for everyone who replied to this our post “Why do you hunt?”. Great to hear all your reasons.
Congratulations to Aaron J Meikle you have won the draw for a Prime Winter garment of your choice.
We are not interested to know how long have you been hunting for?
Alex Broad – This has to be seen!
If you ever wanted to hunt in Africa, or go mountain biking over there, you’d better check this vid out:
And always wear a helmet……….
Night Out on Stewart Island
Hi Rob,
I’ve had a Hunters Element XTR Jacket Generation 3 for the last 18 months and it was definitely put to the test on a trip last week (last week of July 2011) to Stewart Island chasing Whitetail.
We (a party of 5) arrived to snow on the beach to the high tide mark and it didn’t thaw for two days.
The jacket was saturated every day and still continued to keep the inside layers dry and warm!
I spent an unexpected night out in the bush when the XTR was already saturated from a day bush stalking the Grey Ghosts of Rakiura. I ended up spending the night (the coldest night this year in NZ as it turns out) on a remote south-facing beach while there were 50 knots of wind and associated downpours buffeting the island. The XTR kept me dry, warm and in one piece – at least on the top half. The bottom half without HE gear was wet, cold and desperately in need of a pair of XTR PacStealth trousers!!
The other 4 guys in the party would tell you the only addition the jacket requires is a built in locator beacon (or a Garmin GPS)!?
Thanks for a great product. It couldn’t have had more of a workout than 7 days (and a night) mid-winter on saturated Stewart Island.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Croydon
Rob and the Team at Hunters Element are pleased to hear you made it out safely.
Tim Holland the winner of the Lifestyle competition
Tim Holland (second from left) the winner of the Huners Element Lifestyle competition sent us this picture of him and his mates out chasing pheasants, here’s what he had to say:
“What a great top! Took it out for a pig hunt and a couple of 3 hour pheasant walks on Saturday and I’m bloody impressed. Comfortable, light, quick drying and perfect for what I do.
Thanks again for what is now my favourite hunting top! Might just be lucky too, got a limit of pheasants including my first melanistic.”
Pleased to hear you love the top and congratulations on the pheasant! Happy hunting!
Cheers Rob

Alex Broad – Opening Day!
Thats right, opening day is tomorrow and I know we are all getting excited for another season of cold, wet, windy, early mornings.
This year I’m tagging along with Rob on his annual opening day tradition. This will be my first proper opening day shoot, and I’m really looking froward to it. The pond has been well fed and the duck numbers, I’m told, are pretty good.
We’ll be on the road and stuck in mai mai’s for the next few days, but will keep the blog updated when we can.
Good luck to all our followers, don’t drink too much, keep your powder dry and may your barrels be hot!
Cheers,
Alex.
Robert Wilson – Christchurch Earthquake

I have been in China for the past week meeting with factories and quality checking this seasons products. I learnt of the Christchurch Earthquake while I was away. It was on the front of every paper I saw. From all the Team at Evolve Outdoors Group we send our regards to the hardy people of Christchurch, hang in there and take care. Our condolences to the people who lost loved ones.
Rob Wilson – Being a boy!
I haven’t managed to get out and do any hunting over the Xmas – New Years break however I did get a bit for 4WDing in.
